Elizabeth Julia Shortt was born on the 15th June, 1968 to parents Sylvia and Bryan Shortt. She had an older brother, Gary. She was doted upon by all the family, especially grandfather Bart. Elizabeth grew up happy and started work at the shoe shop in Shiremoor. She later went to work next door, at the chemist. Before these jobs, she met husband, Thomas Gallagher, who had previously been married and divorced with two kids, then with another partner with a further two. Despite this, Elizabeth fell in love and they married in 1991. On 5th October 1994 after two years of trying, Liz and Toms first daughter Lucy was born, followed almost 3 years later by Lauren on the 29th September, 1997. During the next few years things were fine, until Tom became an alcoholic and Liz decided to leave with the two children. She found a new boyfriend, John who helped her enjoy the little things in life as she wanted. Tom told hospital staff if he saw Liz in the street he would run her over, when he was there for taking an overdose, which Elizabeth saved him from. A month later, on Sunday 22nd September, Tom arrived to collect the children from his in-laws, after Liz had spent the weekend at her boyfriends house. It was a Sunday, and the children always went swimming. The car was broke so Tom and Liz walked over to the house to collect the swimming costumes. Once there, he killed her, leaving numerous stab wounds in both the back and chest area. The police came later that day to tell Liz' parents and children the news and Thomas was arrested. The children now live with their grandparents and Tom is is prison, due for parole 22nd september 2012.

I had the pleasure of working with Elizabeth at the local pharmacy.
She was a part-time worker, but whenever she was working the place was always a happier place.
She had a great dry sense of humour, and could never, ever, hurt a fly.

The place just was not the same without her in it.

R.I.P. Elizabeth and thanks for your company.

We have known Lucy all of our life and we always seen her with her mam with the biggest smile on her face. She is the prettiest woman and the looks are reflected in her two daughters. They have been so brave over the past years and they help eachother through hard times. Their life is never going to be the same but they always walk around with their heads held high proud to be her daughters. Its hard to imagine how the family can actually cope but they always do every day. Lucy and Lauren do have their down days but they always help eachother through them even though they always fight and argue like all sisters do. They are funny and loving people who put other peoples lifes before theirs to make sure that everyone enjoys the time they have in life because nobody knows how long it will last. Elizabeth was taking far to early but God does take the best first but it is a shame the way she had to go. She was a loving mam and daughter and shall always be remembered in our hearts. RIP Elizabeth we are so proud of the daughters you have given the world and keep looking over them. You have done a great job of your family Elizabeth.

ჱܓ ჱܓ ANGEL ჱܓ ჱܓ

I was never ready to say goodbye
To someone who I held so dear
If it was up to me dear Angel
I would always keep you near

My Angel was a person
so loving and kind
And often you would know
What was on my mind

No words I write
Can ever say
how much I miss you Angel
every single day

But the love I have for you
Is in my heart to stay

I will never stop loving you
I’m sure I never will ჱܓ ჱܓ

THE ROSE BEYOND THE WALL
A rose once grew where all could see
Sheltered beside a garden wall
And as the days passed swiftly by
It spread its branches straight and tall...

One day a beam of light shone through
A crevice that had opened wide
The rose bent gently toward its warmth
Then passed beyond to the other side...

Now you who deeply feel its loss
Be comforted, the rose blooms there
Its beauty ever greater now
Nurtured by gods own loving care
